1. Information We Collect
We handle account and profile details; trip memberships, itineraries, checklists, notes, bookings, expenses and settlements; documents you upload; device and notification information; and location updates only when you enable and use Location Sharing.
2. Why We Collect It
We collect only the information needed to create and secure accounts, organize and synchronize trips, support collaboration and offline access, deliver enabled notifications, store private travel documents, split expenses, and provide support.
3. How We Use Personal Data
We use personal data to provide requested Buddy On Trip features, authenticate users, enforce trip permissions, maintain service security, answer support and privacy requests, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell personal data.
4. When We Share Personal Data
Authorized trip members can see information shared within their trip. Limited data is processed by providers used for Google authentication, cloud hosting and private storage, maps/location functions, and Expo push notifications. We may also disclose information when required by law.
5. Data Storage and Security
Production services use HTTPS, secure token-based authentication, password hashing, authorization checks, revocable sessions, private document storage, and access-controlled signed downloads. Never send passwords, OTPs, tokens, passport numbers, Aadhaar numbers, or document contents by email.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained while an account is active. After an account deletion request is confirmed, the account and its associated data are retained for a 15-day recovery period. If the request is not cancelled, the account and all associated data are permanently erased at the end of that period and cannot be recovered.
7. Your Rights
In the app, open Profile → Settings → Privacy & Security to request your personal data, correct profile information, manage applicable consent, submit a privacy complaint, or delete your account. Requests apply only to your own information.
8. Consent and Withdrawal
Location sharing and optional marketing communications are disabled unless you enable them. You can withdraw either choice in Privacy & Security. Withdrawing location consent stops new updates and removes active location sharing.
9. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion from Profile → Settings → Privacy & Security in the app. You may cancel the request during the 15-day recovery period and retain your account. If you do not cancel, your account, active sessions, profile, Travel Vault documents, shared-trip data, transaction data, and all other associated data are permanently erased after 15 days.
10. Children’s Data
Buddy On Trip is not intended for children to create independent accounts where parental consent is required. Contact us if you believe a child’s data was provided without appropriate authorization.
11. Privacy Complaints
Submit a Privacy Complaint from the app or email hello@buddyontrip.com. Provide only what is needed to describe the concern. We will review and respond through the contact details associated with the request.
12. Third-Party Services
Google authentication, hosting and private cloud storage, maps/location services, and Expo notification delivery operate under their own terms and safeguards. We share only the data reasonably needed for those functions.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Buddy On Trip or applicable requirements change. Material updates will be communicated appropriately, and the current version and date will remain available here.
